New BlackBerry 10 Handset to be Named Z10

Marketing material has emerged showing us the possible name of the new BlackBerry 10 handsets.

The launch of the BlackBerry 10 operating system and the handsets accompanying it is drawing ever closer and as each day arrives so does a new rumour telling us what we can expect from the two new phones.

Leaked marketing material has given us information on possible colours and a name of the first ever full touchscreen BlackBerry smartphone, currently known only as the L-Series.

According to the leaked image, the completely touchscreen phone will be released with the name BlackBerry Z10 and will also be released in two colours: black and white.

A name like the Z10 shows a significant change from the traditional BlackBerry names featuring 4 numbers such as the BlackBerry Bold 9790 and the BlackBerry Curve 9350

The only other information we know so far is that RIM, the Canadian manufacturer of BlackBerry, is planning to release the touchscreen phone alongside a device with the traditional full physical QWERTY keyboard.

It is also rumoured that the handset with the full keyboard will have the name BlackBerry X10 which lines up with the other handset’s name.

If these names are correct, then the BlackBerry Z10 and the X10 will be the first handsets to run on the new BlackBerry 10 operating system. The phones are scheduled to be unveiled in January, with a launch of the handsets coming as soon as the 30th January.

RIM have been going through some serious financial difficulties over the past few years, and are hoping the new handsets and operating system will boost interest and profit.
