All phones have cameras on them but, it has to be said, they are not all made equal so if the camera on your phone is an important feature, then you will need to do your homework to make sure that  you are not disappointed. Naturally, your budget and other necessary features need to be taken in to account.

For lots of people on the market for a new phone, the main manufacturers are the ones that they turn to first, but don’t forget that many networks also have exclusive rights to some phones, and these can certainly be worth taking a look at.

The San Diego from Orange is a stylish phone powered by an advanced Intel processor for fast web browsing. It also boasts an 8 megapixel/1.3 megapixel  camera duet that are capable of taking ten pics a second so you won’t have to put up with that irritating pause in between snaps when you are trying to take action shots. You can use either camera by using the touchscreen or the physical key, and the rear facing, primary camera can also be used to shoot 1080p video.

BlackBerry Curve 9320

The camera on the Curve 9320 is not the best – it’s only 3.2 megapixels for a start, but it does have an integrated flash, which is useful for taking shots in low light. The reason that it is getting a mention here is that this phone is the new addition to the BlackBerry stable and is being marketed at first time smartphone users, and/or the youth market so if all you want is a camera for taking shots that you can share on social networking sites, this may be the one you are looking for.

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2

The original Ace was a real success for Samsung (as are most of their offerings) and the Ace 2 is hoping to build on that. The camera is 5 megapixels and boasts an integrated LED flash. Early reviews of this camera show disappointing shutter speeds – but the same was said of the Ace and people raved about that one!

HTC One S

HTC has recently announced that it is refusing to compromise on quality in order to bring prices down so as soon as you see the name you know that it’s not going to be the cheapest phone on the market – but you also know that you’re going to get what you pay for.

The camera on this stylish and super-slim smartphone is 8 megapixels, and it has the added luxury of featuring HTC ImageSense technology so that you will never miss a special moment. All you need to do is to tap the high resolution touchscreen to capture the most amazing photos, or to shoot HD video. If you are serious about the camera on your phone, then this one definitely deserves a second look.

Once you have your photos or videos, it is just as easy to upload them to your favourite social networking site or to share them on the bigger screen of your TV.
