This is something that changes pretty often, but the Samsung Galaxy S2 seems to have remained in the coveted top spot for awhile now. Apple’s iPhone 4S is a close contender, as is the Nokia Lumia 800.

Apple iPhone 4S

There was a lot of hype and media interest in the launch of the iPhone 4S, and the initial reaction tended to be one of disappointment, but a few months down the line it’s possible to see the differences, rather than just the likenesses of this phone and its predecessor, the iPhone 4.

The problem is that the iPhone 4 really pushed the boundaries as far as phone performance went, and the majority of us wanted to see the same kind of leap forward. This didn’t happen, and although the 4S made some modest moves, they were in the right direction and they are excellent.

The processor is extremely fast; the display is superb; the camera is excellent, and the operating system, which is iOS 5, is hard to beat and comes loaded with apps.

If you are looking for an alternative to Android or i0S, then this may be the phone for you. The Nokia Lumia 800 is a Windows Phone, and you will love the simplicity of it. If you hate being away from your music for any length of time, the Lumia 800 will keep you happy – it has dedicated radio stations, which will give you the latest releases all bundled up in their relevant genres.
