Alcatel 710
Alcatel known for creating stylish, yet affordable mobile phones, their latest addition is the Alcatel 710 which is not only stylish, but offers an array of impressive technology and functionality. Let’s take a closer look at this little gem.
The Alcatel 710 is offered in black and white and right now is one of the smallest mobile phones on the market. This little gem measures 103mm x 86.6mm x 12mm and it weighs a mere 85g. Needless to say, it is very pocket and purse friendly.
What We Like
Nestled in its glossy case is a 2.8 inch resistive touch screen that offers 256,000colors and a resolution of 240 x 320 mega pixels. This screen may by small but it is easy to use thanks to the UI and the helpful shortcuts. Yes, we would have like to have seen a capacitive screen on this model, but the Alcatel 710 is very responsive and we did not have to use a stylus. So that was a plus.
The Alcatel 710 offers ring and vibration alerts and you can always use your own MP’s as ringtones so you can really customize your device. There are also loudspeakers so you can talk on you mobile phone, hands free. This can be very convenient at times.
To make it easy to keep in touch with friends and family, the Alcatel 710 offers a phone book that holds up to 500 contacts. It also offers SMS, MMS, and email as well as instant messaging and a WAP 2.0 browser, so you will never be out of touch.
The 710 also offers a variety of entertainment, so you should never be bored. There is an MP3/MP4 player so you can play music and video playback, and an FM radio with RDS capability. There are even several games. Alcatel has also included the popular 3.5mm audio jack so you can enjoy your tunes on your favorite headphones.
We were very impressed with the rear facing camera, which is capable of recording footage that is YouTube worthy. This is definitely not your average, low-end camera since it can also be used as a webcam when you connect it to your PC. For all you “social butterflies”, Twitter and FaceBook comes pre-installed.
For storing all your photos, videos and music the Alcatel 710 offers 3.5 MB of internal memory with the ability to upgrade up to 8GB via a micro SD card. In term s of connectivity, the 710 supports Bluetooth, EDGE and GPRS as well a micro USB port.
What We Don't Like
Unfortunately, like all mobile phones, the Alcatel 710 does have some flaws. We mentioned previously that the 710 was very stylish and pocket friendly, however, it does feel a bit flimsy and not likely to withstand too many ‘bumps or bruises’. Another disappointment is the lack of 3G and Wi-Fi, however, the Opera Mini browser seems to cope pretty well.
Conclusion
So, in conclusion, the Alcatel 710 is a “fuss-free”, affordable mobile phone with impressive technology and is cute and easy to handle.
i wish alcatel did better on this one. it looks really good but i get dissapointed with its touch sensitivity. feels like i can break its screen with frustration.
