Samsung C3050 Stratus Review

Samsung was not always known for their top of the line smartphones, there was a time when all they made were feature phones, and some of them were quite good to be honest. They are still making feature phones until now, like the new Samsung C3050 Stratus.

The Stratus is a slider phone that combines a compact design with basic functionality. This phone is for people who just want a cellphone that is not hard on the budget and can do the basic stuff, like texting and calling pretty well. At just under 50 pounds each, you cannot deny that the Stratus is affordable, but is it any good?

What We Like

For a budget phone, the Samsung C3050 Stratus has a couple of nice qualities to it. Qualities like:

The slider movement is slightly above average. It does not stick when you push the screen up to expose the number keys, so using it is easy enough.

The buttons are easy to press. This makes texting on the Stratus relatively easy on your thumbs.

Navigating through the phone's user interface is easy. You can use it straight out of the box without even bothering to take a look at the included user manual.

As with all feature phones, the Samsung Stratus battery life beats even the best smartphones. At a full charge, the Stratus gives approximately 4 and a half hours of talk time and 10 days on standby.

Though it only has 512MB of internal storage, the Stratus does have a microSD slot that can accommodate up to 8GB. So you can store a lot of MP3s and use your phone as a pretty good media player.

What We Don't Like

There are some odd quirks about the Samsung Stratus that can really make it feel like it is a cheap phone. Here are some of the more annoying points about the Stratus:

The camera is horrible. There are other budget feature phones nowadays that have a 2MP camera built-in, but the Samsung Stratus opted to just use a VGA camera instead. The photographs it takes are horribly pixelated, so much so that you have to squint your eyes just to make out what is in the picture.

At a distance, the Samsung Stratus looks like it is pretty well made, but once you hold it in your hands then you will notice that the phone is made entirely out of plastic. Though there's nothing wrong with using plastic, the overwhelming amount of it that is in the Stratus makes it feel tacky.

Conclusion

As it is just a feature phone, there is nothing really outstanding about the Samsung Stratus, you cannot use it to surf the web, and you cannot install any of the latest apps and games; it is just a basic cellphone so you should not expect a lot from it. But if you are just looking for a cheap phone that can do the basics like calling and texting and pretty much nothing more, the Samsung C3050 Stratus is certainly a good phone candidate.

This phone is actually the best in its range! Very cheap price but you get features that you're gonna love. It's very light weight but it looks kind of bulky. The casing could use some design instead of just simple metallic look and big buttons. Anyway, it's a great phone because of its price and its social networking integration.

Hey guys! Before getting this? You have to know that it has some annoying things about the design of this phone! I don't know if its good but it vibrates every 5 minutes when its low on battery! Kinda useful but gets annoying because you can't stop it. And when you get a call, you can easily end the call when you pull this out of the pocket! And the most thing I hate is you can accidentally erase the message you typed when you accidentally hit the end call button! Because it will exit without saving! Better think about it!

This is a cheap phone that looks cool and isnt very outdated in features. It's an alright phone, been using this since 2 years ago. It's an absolute recommend.

easy phone to use..! good phone with easy touchscreen.. it's not a smartphone since it's just a basic phone with access to internet and has a touch functionality..

samsung phones really amaze me with their designs. this one looks very nice but is a cheap phone. i like how samsung makes them like that. i bought this one last week and its very nice. features are good, not smartphone-like of course, but good enough that will serve its purpose. its a recommedable phone. i like it.

this phone looks bulky and it looks kinda plain.. i had this over a year now and its good aside from the looks.. some people like how it looks but not me.. my mom bought this..

8.5out of 10

good phone. only problem is it restarts suddenly at times, not a big problem though. but anyway, aside from that it's pretty solid. i've used this over 2 years now and its just lately it showed some signs of degration.

8.5out of 10

this phone is very reliable. if you are looking for celphone for talking and messaging, this phone is outstanding,. the c3050 has good sound quality but camera is just vga. i use this as my answering and messaging phone. it has served me for 2 years without any problem.

9out of 10

good looking phone. it has basic touch functionality and good enough specs. lags occasionaly but that is understandable. it's only around £38!!

8out of 10

Well, i'm not too fon about its design and the memory is very limited especially the internal memory of 15MB. Honestly, what can you do with that kind of size? And the battery is also very limited. surely, what it lacked on features it should have made up with its battery life. But it did not. Think twice before buying this phone if I were you.

The design is quite edgy for my taste. Ugly really. If you are in to looking like a lost commando with this gadget which looks like a radio receiver, then buy this. Otherwise, look for other phones that look better and has more advanced and better features.

This phone is small and affordable but it has many cons. It has no wifi, slow data and low resolution display.

I like this Samsung c3050 it is so cute and the weight is very light that sometimes I forgot that I am carrying my phone inside my pocket. The most I love this phone is the simpleness design but elegant that I can use it in any places. Of course there is one I don’t like the color availability it is only black nothing else.

It is a very nice phone, I have it now 1 year already and I don’t have any problem using this phone, so far. The music sound is cool. But I cant take the pictures and videos at night because there is no flash and the truth with this phone camera is not that excellent even in day time.

8out of 10

The phone is very reliable and if you are looking phone for talking and sending messages this is the outstanding among all phone I ever had. C3050 has a very well good sound a polyphonic tones that lets you set it for ring tones and messages alert, and it do perform very much. But I am bit upset with the camera it is very low quality.

8out of 10

Well, for me I am happy having this phone, but I have a problem on downloading of the music. Everytime I download something it automatically goes into other files of the phone. The phone doesn’t allow me to move it to another file or listen to it.

Samsung C3050 is fine with me, but I am just having a problem on operating with it, at first I cant enter any site from this set as it always show the message not enough memory, but phone memory is almost empty. Secondly when I switch off and then again start the phone the contact list is automatically converted to last name first mode and no idea how to restore the settings again.

7out of 10

I just buy this phone and I am not fully satisfied. Even considering his low price, the camera took crappy pictures bad colors even in outdoor. Downloading from the mobile to the PC took so much time VGA pictures only. The user interface is a bit laggy as well.

To all those who complain about a low resolution camera in samsung and other phones....please try to understand that camera lenses are the most expensive parts of mobile phones and even cameras themselves, when such giants as Samsung and Nokia put out low resolution camera phones, this means the lens is cheap and the phone should be cheap.

I met some problem in operating this phone, at first I can’t enter any site from this set as it always show the message not enough memory, but phone memory not card memory is almost empty. second when I switch off and then again start the phone the contact list is automatically converted to Last Name first mode.

This phone is the best as far as Samsung slides is concerned, I have seen it with my friend and am going 4 it next month because of it many features, many people may post not good comment due to their mishandling of the handset but this should not discourage you instead try it on your self.

Samsung c3050 good phone for money, usual entry level stuff, but the keypad clicks and clicks and clicks it drives me in everyone around me crazy, calculators from 3hundred years ago, made less noise, why Samsung, did you have a competition between you designers to see who could make the most horrible keypad possible.

5out of 10

Turn the C3050 key tones off with the volume control buttons on the side when in standby mode. With the slider closed click the volume down button until you get the speaker with a line thorough it icon. This kills the keypad tones, but does NOT affect call volume.

Is anyone having difficulty receiving texts. Lately I am not receiving an incoming text till I send one. This can be hours after a text has been sent to me. I have spoken to technical persons who have looked at the number of stored texts but this is within acceptable limits.

8out of 10

I have a Samsung c3050! so, I activate the internet, I make all the settings that I knew and read about it. But still I can't download music from any sites..It's start and download a while, but at 230 kb downloaded it stop's. Why? I really have no idea, I've tried a lot of settings to repair this problem but I didn't succeed.

I've had this phone for a few weeks and last night it was low on power it was beeping so I put it on the charger. Put it on charger and saw that it was charging bars going up and down. After a few hours I hear a beep noise from it, and another one an hour later. I assume that this was an indicator that it was fully charged, so a few minutes later I turn off the charger via switching off switch near plug.

When you collect all the information’s for this phone the results is that you have average phone the time for VGA camera is in the past the menu is not very impressive the e-250 is having more beautiful menu so this phone is only for the role of 2mobile in your pocket.

8out of 10

I personally think it a good phone and with excellent features. I'm personally thinking of buying it. Word of advice to those who are good in critics-u must learn to buy a phone that will satisfy a certain need not just for fun because u end criticizing.

8out of 10

I find this phone quite average in terms of performance. There is really nothing astounding that make this phone stand out.

4out of 10

I kinda do not like its robo cop look, I kinda have a stiff and mechanical impression about it. But other than ist disturbing looks, the phone is quite impressive in terms of use. I just don’t feel like brandishing the phone in the public especially when friends are around.

5.5out of 10

I have this phone and it works fine nothing problem. And I like this phone because it easy to use and light weight easy to carry, also it cheap and affordable phone to buy.

8out of 10

This handset has a poor camera quality with lack of features and very low screen resolution.

6out of 10

I like this phone it has a smooth slider movement and very comfortable keypad to use. Also the battery life is quite good it can last in longer use and pretty good sound quality.

8out of 10

I have this phone and the first problem I in counter is the slider it’s always stuck!
