Samsung E1080

Lightweight and low priced, this is a great phone for beginners or those who need something simplistic between pricier purchases. However, its features are pretty bare bones.

THE GOOD

Ribbed back for easy gripping, bright, 65K colour screen, predictive text, some games available.

THE BAD

Low talk time and battery life, small screen, cheap, flimsy exterior casing, no camera, no wi-fi.

Samsung E1080 belongs to the basic phone category

If you need a phone simply for texting or calling and you want it at an affordable price then the E1080 fits your needs perfectly.

This phone, despite being simple remains unparalleled in its category. The E1080 has a sturdy exterior, an excellent choice for mobile users who love the outdoors. This phone fits the demand of outdoor life and adventure.

What We Like

What we like about the E1080 handset is that it focuses on the core functions of a mobile phone and meets them.  It does not pretend to offer beyond the essential functions of a basic phone.  But this doesn’t mean that the E1080 isn’t at all powerful.  It fulfils its role and delivers reliable results.

From the basic to its additional features the phone serves its purpose well. Its robust exterior envelopes the core functions of the phone, preserving its performance and life from the perils of being outdoors.  If you don’t want something that’s flashy but ultimately fragile then this is the phone for you.

The phone remains true to the brand’s engineering design ingenuity.  E1080 is a typical Samsung mobile phone that is compact, lightweight yet sturdy. It measures about 107mm (length) x 45mm (width) x 13mm (thick) and weighs just 64 grams.

Samsung E1080 also brings back the mobile tracking feature.  Mobile phone tracking detects the current location or position of your handset regardless if it is moving or immobile.  This feature would help you retrieve your mobile phone in case you lose it or someone steals it.  What the tracker does is send an SMS alert to the programmed number as soon as anyone attempts to change the phone’s SIM.

When evaluating the E1080 for its features, you have to keep in mind that the phone belongs to the budget-friendly phone category. Therefore, there are certain things about it that would pale in comparison to higher-end, more expensive versions.

What We Don't Like

The thing with budget-friendly mobile phones is that they often have technology downgrades as well as exclude certain feature. The E1080 mobile phone is no exception.

What we do not like about the phone is that it does not have a camera which most phones seem to have these days and is also something that many people look for. The phone also lacks channels for connectivity such infrared, Bluetooth and a web connection.

Nonetheless, if all you really need is a phone that can survive all the stress, the rigors, and the pressure of being outdoors then the E1080 should.  A phone you can rely upon for calling or sending SMS especially during emergencies and or as the need arises, this is what Samsung E1080 is.

Conclusion

Samsung E1080 is the phone for people who love the outdoors and live an adventurous life.  Mobile phone users, who only need basic functions- such as calling and texting, will admire how this mobile phone performs under considerably difficult circumstances.

Its exterior might be less attractive than the Samsung E1170, its progeny, but in terms of durability, reliability, performance and affordability, E1080 can give any mobile phone a good run for their money.

If you wish to go for simplicity and efficiency on your mobile phone then the Samsung E1080 is definitely worth considering. It is very simple but it already serves its purpose. Though Samsung mobile phones are generally meant for jaw dropping designs and feature, this phone this phone is meant for people who do not wish to have a lot of complicated features in their phone. The battery life is extremely commendable. If ever you are looking for a high-end phone that boasts of apps and features, then this is definitely not the phone for you.

Compared to Nokia cheap phones, this is a much reliable phone. I use this everyday and been using it since last year. No problems at all! It's a top mobile phone compare to other phones in its range. Take my word for it, if you're going to buy a cheap phone, best get this one!

Great overall performance and it has a torch light.. :)

This is a solid phone. This is supposed to be my backup phone but I've been using this more than my Galaxy S. It's because it has way better battery life than the latter. I need to answer calls whenever and wherever and I can't do that on a battery sucking device like the Galaxy S...

very long battery life. screen is nice. torch light lights up even though locked sometimes, this uses up battery life.

8out of 10

Very nice phone with decent design. It has a very long battery life span which is just what I need. Torch light is handy. Very cheap too. A recommedable phone.

this phone is the best for me. i've been looking for a basic phone and these days every store is in frenzy over selling smartphones and all those expensive devices that i dont really need! well anyway, i came across this phone and liked the price very much. i tested and tried it and i finally decided to buy it. after a few months, this phone still works just like brand new. i think it's gonna be a long while before i buy a new phone, this phone is very reliable and solid. i recommend this to people who likes simple phones.

It is dependable and easy to use. It is just superb. Not to mention that it is also very simple. That is why I adore this phone so much.

8out of 10

boring phone if you're looking for games and anything to pass the time... but if you dont like charging most of the time, then this phone is the bomb. it lasts almost a week! calls are good and messaging is fast. this is a superiour phone over other samsung basic phones! trust me, this is the best model!

8out of 10

It is too pricey for something that does not offer a lot. It would have not been that bad if the battery lasts longer then I would not have spent for another set of batteries.

super cheap phone. very useful too! love the torch light! :p

The most useful phone in the galaxy...

If you are tired with all the high end phones whose battery do not last you the whole day, then this phone is definitely for you. It maybe very simple, but it is very, very relaible. It can be a good back up phone.

8out of 10

The E1080 is very practical. Some might find it too simple for their taste. But it is really dependable. Reception is very good, fast and to top it all, the battery life is superb. It might lack a lot of state of the art features but I don't mind. The important thing is that it serves its purpose efficiently.

8out of 10

This one does not have any outstanding feature to boast of. It is just a simple phone that can save contacts, used for calling and sending text messages. If you are looking for more phone functions, then you better look elsewhere.

8out of 10

Dependable phone especially on long travels. Very limited features and none of the high-end stuffs but is really good for calling and texting.

8out of 10

This phone is very affordable with its durability which makes it very much worth to buy.

I had this phone since September 2011, when the battery is low and you leave the phone without charging after a few hours the battery dies.

7out of 10

This phone is great I just wish I can in a custom mp3 ringtone, and I can also private some settings.

8.5out of 10

Really a good back up holiday phone, battery life out of the box lasted 2 weeks solid no need to have the camera/internet.

8out of 10

Awesome phone, I seldom drops it while jogging in the morning, it has only light scratches but aside from that all is working well.

8.5out of 10

I can’t hear clearly the one whose calling where having a bad conversation because of the speaker of the phone.

I had this phone since September 2011, when the battery is low, and you leave the phone without charging, after few hours, the battery dies and gets corrupted! Yes, you will have to purchase a new battery. Make sure don’t leave the phone drains the battery until it empties.

8out of 10

This phone is great! Wish I could put a custom mp3 ringtone. Also use this phone in a private setting. When my phone rings in public places with friends. Everyone laughs at me and asks me which driver where did I get it, but it is the phone package.

8.5out of 10

This is really a good back up holiday phone. Battery life out of the box lasted 2 weeks solid – no need to have the camera/ internet. Have used mine to call china on an every other day basis, no problems with sound quality and build quality and most important setting is the reject list settings and caller received picture sms, unable to received sms over mobile is very good.

8out of 10

This phone is awesome. I unintentionally dropped it to the floor but its still working nicely. Its really tough, I bet my nokia 5800 will ended its service if it dropped but it wasn’t. Yet, the fake call is really helpful for escaping from an annoying conversation.

9out of 10

This phone simply is an essential gadget you wouldn’t leave home without a standard better type phone if you’re the type of person who’s always on the go. Though it may lack some features like reminder functions for important dates to remember aside from the basic memo functions a multimedia player for customizing tones, a descent screen but over all this is a cool phone.

8out of 10

A lot of young students and working people in my country are using this type of phone. They're cheap, durable, have good battery life and probably, the look too. I got myself a few of this type, even I do own a smart phone. Expensive phones usually are un trustable as a phone.

8out of 10

This phone has everything I need and does it well. Easy to use, better buttons than in Nokia’s, logical software that reminds me about the good times of old Motorola and Siemens phones. Cost only 30€ here in Finland. It is nothing for a good basic phone.

8out of 10

Got this at 50% discount during its product launch for a basic phone it performs very well, battery life is pretty amazing; I do lots of texting & minimal phone calls and still it took me almost 3 weeks to drain the juice before charging it again though actual charging time takes more or less 2 hours.

8.5out of 10

I just want share what I understand how to speed up this cell, my opinion is that don't use automatic keypad lock instead use password on required positions, like cal records, messages and contacts, what I think is that automatic keypad lock slows down this cell so don't use it, if required manually lock your keypad.

8out of 10

Samsung E1080 is way better. While both are loud, Nokia 12xx produces unpleasant hi pitch sound while Samsung sound is warmer. It also has extremy long battery life and ability to set security password for almost everything inside your phone. Light years ahead in the look department too.

8out of 10

No camera, no wifi this phone is boring. Use only for calling and sms.

7out of 10

It’s a very handy phone it’s basic and easy to use. Also good call quality and very affordable price to buy.

8out of 10

It’s a boring phone to use the battery is weak and not quite good in call quality. And also lack of phone features and not comfortable to use the keypad.
