Sony Ericsson Mix Walkman Review
In this day and age where mobile phones sprout like mushrooms in the market, users should have a general idea about the choices and alternative they have. For instance, another entrant in the mobile phone industry competing for the buyer’s attention is the Sony Ericsson Mix Walkman. As its name suggest, the key competitive edge to its buyers is its capability to play audio and music files. This is appropriate for people who love music and those people which music loves.
What We Like
The capacitive touchscreen leads the list of why this device should be considered in an individual’s hot gadgets list. The interface of the device is considerably neat with additional shortcuts that make the programs easy to access. Being a touch screen device, it has a high responsiveness rating as programs can be initiated with the slightest touch.
Another plus factor for this device is its Wi-Fi connectivity. As long as there is a Wi-Fi signal, this mobile phone can connect and browse the Internet for as long as the user wants to. Social networking applications such as Facebook and Twitter have been also incorporated in the mobile phone’s software design.
A high-calibre headset comes also with the package of this mobile phone. Being a music player, the manufacturer see to it that this can be properly complemented with the right type of headphone. And they did no wrong here. The headphones produce high-quality audio output which can generate bass and above satisfactory clarity.
For a mobile phone which is intended to be an audio player, the internal memory of only around 256 megabytes might be an issue. Fortunately, this can still be further supplemented through the use of external memory cards which can range up to 32 gigabytes. This means longer hours of audio playback of music that each individual loves.
The biggest competitive feature of this device, the music player, allows playback of various audio files such as MP3, MP4, WMA and eAAC+. The music player also utilizes TrackID and Zappin support to upgrade the music playback experience.
The other features that this mobile phone can offer include an accelerometer, voice memo, document viewer, SNS integration and SensMe.
What We Don’t Like
The device does not have any 3G connectivity. This means that in the absence of Wi-Fi connection, Internet download and processing speed will be significantly reduced.
For a music player/mobile phone, the absence of repeat option and equalizers might affect the audio output of the device. The screen only has a low resolution of 240 x 400 pixels. This means that images and pictures and video will be viewed in a lower quality as well.
The absence of an on-screen QWERTY keyboard might raise an issue to some users who are used to typing through the conventional keyboard. A file browser that can be used to easily organize files and documents is also absent from the device.
The location of the card slot (under the battery) is also a downside of this device. This just means that users need to take off the battery before they can change or insert the memory card to their mobile phone.
Conclusion
Being a mobile phone which tries to penetrate the market through focusing its music player edge, the Sony Ericsson Mix Walkman will certainly not disappoint. Although there are several features that might be lacking because of the phone being a cross-breed of smartphone, mobile phone and audio player, users can still certainly enjoy the functionalities it bring most especially for music fanatics.
i regret getting this. it could have been better but no, it's a dissapointment. the only good thing about this is its music features... everythin else is crap...
